Course Objectives The aim of the course is to examine the legal rules and practice about occupational health and safety as a duty of the government for providing “right to health” and “right to live” at the workplace.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Students who succeeded in this course will be able: • To define the meaning of the concept of “occupational health and safety” within the context of “right to live” and “right to health”,
  • To discuss about the legal responsibilities of employer, government and worker on occupational health and safety,
  • To describe the international legal sources and conventions of ILO(International Labour Organization), WHO(World Health Organization) and (EU)European Union about occupational health and safety,
  • To examine Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 in general, and occupational health and safety organization at the national and workplace level according to it,
  • To indicate the liabilities of the employer and worker, and occupational health and safety professionals within the scope of Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, and corresponding by laws,
Course Description “Occupational health and safety” within the context of “right to health” will be examined with the help of occupational health and safety regulations in comparative law and Turkish law including ILO(International Labour Organization), WHO(World Health Organization) and EU(European Union) Conventions and other international legal sources, also the responsibilities of employer and worker, and duties of the government on the subject as social partners, and authorities and duties of related public institutions, health and safety professionals’ chambers, labour inspection directorate, and occupational health and safety organization at workplace and legal sanctions are the subject of this course.
